Sunday in Haiti

IMGP3958
Here is a brief review of our day…

We drove to the orphanage where the church also meets. We enjoyed very passionate and beautiful worship in Creole. During the services Karen and Mitch both shared powerful testimonies of their own life transformation. Heidi, Debbie and Cheryl led the church in a song, and Aaron shared a powerful message about making a difference in one’s community. We prayed for the church and even ministered to some of those who are sick. We prayed for them and have been giving some medical assistance to some of kids who have treatable conditions.

After lunch we met the entire orphanage staff and the kids at the beach for a special day of fun. The ocean was flat and the water was warm. Haiti has a tremendous amount of unexpected beauty.  The kids had a great time swimming and playing with the team and one another. As Steve shared with us later, we are being given the opportunity to connect with this kids at a relational level so that they aren’t just another needy kid, but they know us and are known us.

The evening sunset was beautiful as we had lunch on the beach.

Once back at the hotel we had a team meeting where we learned more about the challenges of ministry in Haiti. From there we made sandwiches & prepped for the kids camp that is starting tomorrow morning at 8 a.m. Tomorrow also will be our first full day on the building project. Please pray that the additional deliveries will arrive early tomorrow. It’s been a good day and everyone is doing well. We are learning a lot as we prayerfully immerse ourselves in one of the poorest communities in the world. Thank-you for your continued prayers.

New photos have again been uploaded HERE.  (I wish I could upload more, but the internet here is SO slow that I can only do a few at a time).
